Knife Cfg 5m: How to Get Unreal Distance and Accuracy with the Knife in Counter-Strike

knife is a command-line tool that provides an interface between a local chef-repo and the Chef Infra Server. The knife command line tool must be configured to communicate with the Chef Infra Server as well as any other infrastructure within your organization.

Previous Chef Infra setups recommended setting up knife with a config.rb file. Configuring knife with config.rb is still valid, but only for working with a single Chef Infra Server with a single Chef Infra Server organization.

The line that begins with the asterisk is the currently selected profile. To change the current profile, run the knife config use-profile NAME command, which will write the profile name to the /.chef/context file.

The type of text editor that is used by knife can be configured by adding an entry to your config.rb file, or by setting an EDITOR environment variable. For example, to configure knife to open the vim text editor, add the following to your config.rb file:

I run ephemeral slave so creating a static directory with all the files in the place knife expects by default would be impossible or painful (to write out that structure every time the container slave runs).

back to your question, to make sure that your knife configuration file (./.chef/config.rb) is being read by chef executable, you can place within the configuration file a small probe ruby code that will output once the file is read. place something like the following into your knife configuration:

Some of the optional knife.rb settings are used often, such as the template file used in a bootstrap operation. The frequency of use of any option varies from organization to organization, so even though the following settings are often added to a knife.rb file, they may not be the right settings to add for every organization:

Some organizations choose to have all data bags use the same secret and secret file, rather than have a unique secret and secret file for each data bag. To use the same secret and secret file for all data bags, add the following to knife.rb:

It is possible for multiple users to access the Chef server using the same knife.rb file. (A user can even access multiple organizations if, for example, each instance of the chef-repo contained the same copy of the knife.rb file.) This can be done by adding the knife.rb file to the chef-repo, and then using environment variables to handle the user-specific credential details and/or sensitive values. For example:

Ruby tooling like Chef, Vagrant, or others uses a different mechanism. If the tool is using the WinRM ruby gem, like chef and vagrant do, they rely on the HTTP_PROXY environment variable instead of the local system's internet settings. As of knife-windows 1.1.0, the http_proxy settings in your knife.rb config file will make its way to the HTTP_PROXY environment variable. You can manually set this as follows:

The above certificate store solution works great on windows for windows tools, but it won't help for many cross platform scenarios like connecting from non-windows or using chef tools like knife-windows. The WinRM gem used by tools like Chef and Vagrant take a certificate file which is expected to be a base 64 encoded public key only certificate file. It commonly has a .pem, .cer, or .crt extension.

Both the Ruby WinRM gem and the Go winrm package do not interact with the native windows APIs needed to make Negotiate authentication possible and therefore must use Basic Authentication when using the HTTP transport. So unless you are either using native windows WinRM via winrs or powershell remoting or using knife-windows on a windows client (more on this in a bit), you must tweak some of the WinRM settings on the remote windows server to allow plain text basic authentication over HTTP.

A quickswitch bind will switch to your knife, and then quickly back to your weapon when the binded key is pressed. This bind is commonly used by players who use AWPs, scouts and in some cases deagles to instantly switch to their knife and then back to their gun after firing a shot. This offers no advantage in terms of recoil or the time until another shot can be fired, but it means that the AWP and SSG-08 will not re-scope in after the shot has finished firing. It is also aesthetically pleasing, especially if you have a knife skin.

This bind is very useful for lining up nades including: smokes, molotovs, flashes and grenades. It will make your crosshair stretch out in all 4 directions to the edge of the screen. By default it is bound to the 4 key which is the most common key people press to take out their nades, but this can be changed. Pressing 1, 2, or 3, (when you take out your knife or weapon) will make your crosshair revert to normal. You will need to change cl_crosshairsize 3 to your own crosshair size. 2ff7e9595c
